Course Descriptions
Emergency and Permanent Housing Course
is designed to train staff of public and private non-profit human services
agencies engaged in homeless prevention, homeless intervention and emergency services to provide effective housing counseling. HCI is an eleven session course which covers
the following topics:

Getting Started: Identifying Resources • Cultural Diversity • Financial Counseling • Eviction & Foreclosure Prevention • Emergency & Transitional Housing

Federal Fair Housing • Subsidized Housing • Special Needs Housing • Homeownership • Employment Training & Development • Identifying Resources
Participants will receive certification as Housing Counselors upon
course completion.
Who should take the Emergency and Permanent Housing Course? This course is designed to train staff of public and private non-profit human services agencies as well as volunteers,
case managers, administrative assistants and/or Program Directors in Fairfax County, Virginia; and, anyone else interested in learning the most updated
information as it relates to housing and homelessness prevention.
